More Information....
Although it has been brought to our attention that some
students have exams in January the Board, having canvassed opinions, has decided
to stick with the original date for the Interim Showcase event:
Wednesday 11th
January
The Interim is being held at JFS, The Mall, Kenton, HA3
9TE. Companies should aim to arrive between 3.45 and 4.00pm to set up their
trade stands. They should bring their own backboards but tables will be
provided. Judges will circulate and talk to the achievers in an informal manner
- an ideal opportunity for your students to tell their story so far and to show
prototypes or actual products if they have them. A company providing a service
need not feel this is not for them - on the contrary they can set up an
information / advertising stand.
Refreshments will be served before the more formal part
of the evening during which a maximum of 4 members from each company will make a
five minute presentation preferably with PowerPoint - a fifth person can operate
that. If we have a lot of companies participating the time may be reduced -
we'll decide next term. Making a presentation is good practice for the future
and no one should feel intimidated about doing this now. Everyone will be
interested to hear how things are going and what problems a company has
encountered and how they have solved them. The judges will take several factors
into consideration but will be using the judging criteria issued with the packs
you received after registration with YE.
It has been decided to retain the competitive element of
the event and four awards will be made: Best Overall Company, Runner-up
to Best Overall Company, the Trade Stand Award and
The Presentation Award. These will go to four different companies.
However we wish to emphasise the showcase aspect of the evening and hope that
all companies will feel they have something to say and wish to come along and
listen to each other. It is a great opportunity for business advisers to see
how things are going and to observe other companies too and parents are always
welcome to hear the presentations.
The
Mayor of Harrow and the Mayor of Brent have indicated that they hope to attend.
The evening will finish at 8pm or 8.30pm at the latest depending on how many
companies we have. Please register your company's attendance on our website
www.harrowye.org
by 17th December 2011 so that we know whom to expect
and can plan the event in detail. Do not hesitate to email Gos or
secretary@harrowye.org if you have any
queries.
